Tioman Island, or more fondly known by the locals as Pulau Tioman is a small island located in the state of Pahang in Peninsular Malaysia.

It is along the east coast of the state which is one of the top tourist destinations in the region. In Tioman Island, there are 8 main villages in which Kampung Tekek has the highest population.

That which distinguishes Tioman Island with other destinations is its rich flora and fauna while the island is surrounded by rich coral reefs.

Pulau Tioman was once listed as one of the most beautiful islands in the world where numerous spots have been used in movies and such.

In fact, it has been used as an important navigation point for fishermen for thousands of years of which trading ships from China, Europe and the Middle East had once stopped here.

Tioman Island is actually a very small island where it has a land area of only 136km2. Gunung Kajang is the highest peak here which sets at 1,038 meters while it has less than 500 people who are mostly from the Malay and Chinese communities.

Like the rest of the country, Tioman Island enjoys a year of tropical weather which is hot and humid with occasional rainfall. However, the year end is when rainfall is at the heaviest. Besides that, the year-end monsoon wind will bring about strong waves and unusual high tide at times.

As such, the best time to visit Tioman Island during the middle of the year which is around May to July. This is the time when western countries get their summer while those in the southern hemisphere has their winter. Around these times, you will enjoy the warm and clear coastline with June being the super peak season.

This means that there will be a lot of foreign tourists particularly during these months. For divers, August would be the best time to come to Tioman Island as marine life will be at the richest due to the warm water in the seas or just to head out for a dip into the clear waters of the ocean.
